The Types Of Bathroom Sinks To Remodel Your Bathroom

If a bathroom remodeling plan is on your project list this year then changing the bathroom sink can be a very economical way to give a whole new fresh look to the room.

Depending upon the amount of space you have, your new bathroom sink can be a freestanding unit, installed into a work surface atop a storage cabinet or simply attached to the wall. One of the most economical and popular bathroom sink styles is the good old, traditional white porcelain model in round, oval or square shapes. This style is versatile enough to even fit into small, tight corner spaces.

Porcelain sinks not only come in the traditional white but can be bought in many colors from pink, marine blue to sea green. These colors can create a whole new bathroom environment. They can also be customized with a wide variety of motifs such as shells and seahorses. These are usually painted on and then fired to make the design permanent and durable.

At the more expensive end of the range there are many different exotic styles of sink ranging from mahogany to expensive teak. The wood used is often aged then treated with various waxes, polishes and oil to produce a very glossy and durable sink. These types do take a little care though and they must be dried after each use, with a towel and also be treated annually with a new application of wax polish.

Glass sink bowls that are set into a countertop or mounted onto a metal stand are a particular design that is taking off in popularity. They come in many different sizes, shapes, colors and textures. I recently saw a spectacular creation which was a copper sink sandwiched between two layers of glass. Glass is a very moldable and adaptable material that can be used to make stunning creations.

Sinks are now being made from many other materials such as brass, steel and stainless steel. One of my favorites is stone which can give a very earthy organic look to a bathroom. Luckily you only need the sink to be made out of these materials otherwise it would become prohibitively expensive.

When trying to chose between the many different styles and designs it is all too easy to become carried away and soon find yourself spending a fortune or pick a material that is impractical. So before taking the plunge think carefully about your budget, what style you want and the practicality of the bathroom sink.
